Update Avira Manually (IVDF file)
There are a lot of articles that will show you how to manually update Avira Antivirus <-- Link orang, Nama_nya Juga Copas :p... LANJUT
( also known as the manual update of IVDF ) but most of them are
incomplete, others doesn't include pictures and some of them comes with
real ugly pictures. I know that the name is a little confusing but
someone who wants to find out how to update Avira manually will probably
use the first part of the title while the advanced users should
appreciate the second part since it suggests the link from where they
can obtain the IVDF file or at least this is what I was thinking when I
wrote this article. Please note that I am going to show you how to
update this antivirus manually and it should work for the following
versions: Avira Antivir Windows Professional, Avira AntiVir Premium,
Avira Premium Security Suite and Avira AntiVir Personal that are being
installed on a computer running Windows XP, 2000 or Windows Vista. I
didn't tested this method on other OS or Windows versions and I don't
know if it's going to work but you can try it. I am going to talk about
Avira Antivirus since I think it's easy to spell and to remember than
Antivir. Let's get started, first of all we need to download a file
called ( IVDF ). This is the latest definition file and we can download
the same file from two different sources, again this works on Windows
2000/XP/Vista :
Download IVDF - 1 Location
Download IVDF - 2 Location
If you use Internet Explorer, when you click on "Download IVDF" 1 Location it will open the URL like in the following picture.
A new window will appear and it will ask you where do you want to save the ivdf_fusebundle_nt_en.zip file on your computer.
As you can see I will save the file directly on my Desktop. So choose "Save" and save it anywhere on your PC but make sure to remember the exact location.
Now you need to copy the IVDF file ( latest definition file for Avira Antivirus
) on a USB Stick, external HDD ( hard drive ) or to write the IVDF file
on a CD-ROM. You will need to transport this file as I said on a
storage device to the PC that doesn't have an Internet Access.
Please note that you need to copy the
IVDF file on the PC without internet access and you don't need to
extract the ZIP file, just leave is as it is.
Please start Avira Antivirus and from the program interface ( menu ) select "Update" and then choose - "Manual Update".
Now you need to locate the IVDF file (
latest definition file ), if it's still on the USB, external HDD or
CD-ROM navigate to that location, if it's on the PC without internet
access, select the IVDF file and click "Open".
After you will open the ivdf_fusebundle_nt_en.zip file, you will notice a small window inside the antivirus interface that will start to update the antivirus.
A small window should appear and notify you : "The virus definition file has been successfuly updated", click "OK" and your antivirus should be updated.
Please note that this manual update of Avira Antivirus applies to the following products that runs on Windows :
Avira AntiVir Personal FREE Antivirus
Avira AntiVir Professional
Avira AntiVir Premium
Avira Premium Security Suite
As a final conclusion, I would highly
recommend to update the virus definition file each day if it's possible
for the highest level of security. If you cannot perform an manual
update daily then try to update the IVDF file ( latest definition file )
as soon as you can and always avoid to install programs, games or
anything else without updating the antivirus. Make sure to download the
Avira IVDF file from those two locations that I mentioned at the
beginning of this article. I was reading a similar article on the
Internet that said something like this "just search on the Internet, on Google for the IVDF file or update avira IVDF". Make sure to download ONLY from a safe location
like the ones that I mentioned in this article. If the IVDF file is not
made by Avira, there is a big chance to download a nice collection of
malware or viruses so make sure to use the links that I mention here,
those are the only one that I saw one the Avira website and on their
forums. I have seen this problem many times at a friend of mine who
didn't had an Internet Connection available and he was updating the
antivirus once a month. If a virus is newer than the definition file
then any antivirus program will fail to detect it and it becomes almost
useless. If something changes to the way that Avira will perform a
manual update or the IVDF sources or you wish to say something, do not
hesitate to contact us.
